Dean picked out donuts for his birthday breakfast and was extra excited to find blue star donuts and basketball cream-filled donuts. After breakfast we all went to see Monsters vs. Aliens (Dean's been talking about this movie for months now) and for lunch we let him choose what he wanted. He chose sushi so we went to a Japanese restaurant called Shogun and sat on the teppanyaki side so the boys could enjoy watching a chef cook our meals, make onion volcanoes and throw flames (and whatever other cool tricks they do). Dean ordered his sushi on the side since it is not cooked. We, unfortunately, under estimated how much the big flames would scare Eli and he cried the whole time the chef cooked.

I can't believe he's 3! I don't know where the time goes, but I wish it would slow a bit. I feel like just yesterday he was my first sweet baby boy and now he's my oldest and such a big boy. He's such a great helper and an ambitious little guy. His vocabulary started growing at a very early age and he learned his ABCs by 18 months old. He practically potty trained himself very shortly after turning two years old and even when I wanted to wait to potty train him for overnights, he surprised both Devin and I by waking himself up at 2am one morning to go pee in the potty all by himself! He's been a pro ever since. (People, to this day, ask us how we potty trained him so young and we always say, "don't ask us, we've never potty trained anyone. Dean did it all by himself.")
The past three years have been such a joy with our wonderfully sweet and fun-loving Dean. I can't wait to see how he'll grow and who he'll become as he gets even older. A brain surgeon by age 4 perhaps? LOL. I just hope time doesn't move too quickly because I am addicted to my baby (can I still call him that at 3 years old?). It is truly IMPOSSIBLE not to adore this kid.
Happy birthday, Dean. We love you SO much!!
