{new hair}

I have finally had enough of not being able to brush through my fine hair in this Texas humidity. Not to mention, I have two kids now so who am I kidding thinking I have time for long hair? I have been wanting something short for a while - mostly because I was starting to feel boring since my hair has been one length and mostly long for so many years. This is a graduated bob and I love it. I am going to get hi-lites sometime soon, but until then this is what it looks like. I think the hi-lites will just bring out the layers. Plus, I haven't had any fun color for the past three years because I don't like to get color done or worry about grow-out while I'm pregnant. Thus, I went back to my natural and have stuck with it since. YaWn! Time for a change. I can't wait to get it colored.
P.S. Please ignore my gross sweatshirt from middle school. I should really throw it away, but I won't. Oh well. :o)

Eli's Blessing Day.

Eli was blessed on Sunday, February 3rd, in the Houston, TX - Cypress Ward. He was blessed by his daddy surrounded by family and friends.

I love the last picture. He looks like a big, fat, smiley butterball. What a cutie. And no, we do not mix his his formula with lard. Just mayonnaise. Haha.

*Baby in picture is not as fat as he may appear.*

Shopping for Nite-Lites with Jesus!

So...funny story.

Dean, Eli and I went off to Lowes to buy a night light for Dean's room (now that he's in a big-boy bed, I'm worried he'll hurt himself by late-night wandering in the dark). He started shouting something over and over again and when I finally payed enough attention to comprehend his rantings, I heard, "Jesus, Jesus! I want Jesus, Mommy!" All the while he is saying this (more like yelling), he is reaching his arms out. But I couldn't see for whom he was reaching and was still a bit confused by his behavior. Well, when I turned around to see what (or who) he was reaching for, I saw a man standing merely a foot away also shopping for a night light. He had long brown hair and a beard. (F.Y.I. Dean has done this to the many Santas roaming around out there - or just any man with a gray beard - but I never expected a Jesus sighting.) Even after many whispered attempts to Dean explaining that the man he was reaching for was not, in fact, Jesus, he continued shouting in excitement.

I have no idea if the man heard (I really don't know how he couldn't). Needless to say, I left before getting a night light but I secretly enjoyed every minute of it. What a smart (and persistent) boy.

Hilarious!

I started laughing exceptionally hard when I saw the NO for "playing with Baby" because a friend of mine is really good at that (yes, Chels, that would be Dave). So funny!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh my, how Dean's little face lit up when he saw those "Tadoodle Markers" by Crayola. There is a monkey, a puppy and a frog. He also got a big-boy froggie cup with a built-in straw (that looks like a cigarette in one of the pictures - LOL), a whole lot of M&Ms (or MMs, as he would say), and three of those giant rubber-band balloons (he went nuts for that too!).

I sure do love spoiling this kid
, much to Devin's demise - in fact, he may never let me forget that I just admitted that. But, it's true. I am such a sucker for that expression of sheer joy that spreads across Dean's sweet face when he gets something he absolutely loves. I am also a sucker for the next few hours of peace, quiet and contentment throughout my home as he joyfully plays with his new treasure, whatever it may be.

As for Devin, I got him a card along with a fancy chocolate bar and a container of cashews (his favorite but he'll never buy them for himself because they're expensive). And just when I thought my gift would be a little something simple and sweet (just as his was) he went all out and got me a ... memory foam mattress!! Happy Valentine's Day to me, that's all I have to say about that. Although it was a gift for me, he definitely earned himself a place to sleep right next to me with a gift like that. :o) What a sweet man.

Funny!

I learned something funny today... Tiffany Snedaker and I have the same birthday.

So, to amend my birthday post below (which was wishing my twin sister a happy birthday - hence the comments about sharing a whom. Haha.),
Happy birthday Alisha AND Tiffany!! I hope you had a great one, Tiff. It sounds like you did. :o)

Rexburg Temple & Temple Tidbits

This is a frontal view of the newly dedicated Rexburg, ID Temple. All Latter-day Saint (Mormon) Temples built since the Salt Lake Temple feature a golden angel Moroni sounding his trumpet atop the large spire. The angel Moroni represents a messenger of the restoration of the gospel and also of the Second Coming - "for the Son of Man shall come, and he shall send his angels before him with the great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together the remainder of his elect from the four winds".
This is the baptismal room in the temple. It is where baptisms for our deceased ancestors can be performed so that they may receive the gospel if they did not have that opportunity while living. In the center of the room is the baptismal font being supported on the backs of twelve oxen. These twelve oxen which uphold the font represent the twelve tribes of Israel. They are placed facing outward toward the north, south, east and west - in every direction of the compass. The beautiful oxen are difficult to see in this picture because they actually stand below the floor level from which the picture was taken. Here is a better view of the oxen taken in the older Nauvoo Temple.
This is the Bride's Room in the Temple. This is where a woman preparing to wed in the temple dresses for the blessed occasion with the help of sweet temple workers as well as a few family and/or friends she may have chosen for the occasion. (Thank you, Kris and Chelsea, for assisting me on my wedding day. I will never forget that wonderful memory.)
This is the Sealing Room in the Temple (although the actual altar is not pictured). This room is where couples and even, in some cases, entire families, are sealed to one another for time and all eternity. We believe that families can be together forever through the special ceremony performed in this room. If you are married in the Temple, your children born thereafter are automatically born under that covenant and will forever be sealed to their parents from birth. For those who adopt their children, a very special sealing ceremony that includes the children is held to unite their family for all eternity. This is the Ordinance Room. It is a room where the ceremony known as endowment is administered. The Idaho Falls Temple is considered a moving Temple (which is my favorite to attend) where those participating move from room to room, each room representing a progression of mankind. There may be (depending on the temple) a Creation room, representing the events of Genesis; a Garden room representing the Garden of Eden (where Adam & Eve lived prior to the "fall of man"); a World room representing where Adam and Eve lived after the fall; and the Terrestrial and Celestial rooms representing two of the three kingdoms of God. The Celestial Kingdom is the highest degree of glory (what others may describe as "Heaven") and also considered the glory of the sun. The Terrestrial Kingdom, the glory of the moon, is the second kingdom and The Telestial Kingdom, the glory of the stars, is the lowest kingdom.
This is the Celestial Room and is usually where most temple ceremonies and/or ordinances end (aside from baptisms). This room represents the Celestial Kingdom, which, as stated above, is the highest degree of glory; the glory of the sun. Learn more about the three degrees of Glory, Joseph Smith and more HERE.

Pilot Eli

I realized I haven't shared our nursery yet - so here it is. There are 15 planes hanging from the ceiling also, but I couldn't get a great picture of them so you may have to peek extra hard. I painted the planes on the wall and made the rocking chair covers. Devin hung the chair-railing (Good job, honey). All in all, I like it. I do have to admit, I still love Dean's room better (nautical, a.k.a sailboat, theme). It is much easier to find sailboat-themed decor than airplane decor.

Also, I haven't put pictures in the hanging frames yet so please ignore those. I can't decide whether I want to hang black & white pictures of the family or airplane pictures. Hmmmm.

Taaa Daaa!

Here it is... finally. I made 12 of these in total. The quotes hanging above say "Love is not something you look for" "Love is something you become".

They are supposed to be displayed in a 3-frames-across x 3-frames-down collage style but we did not have a great space to do so (nobody would be able to see them in our stairway hall so I didn't want to waste them there). Thus, I hung them gallery-style on each side of our LCD tv. The one that is not hanging at the moment says "JOY". I may hang it by itself somewhere else - we'll see. I also made three more (like I said, 12 in total) that say "Love" "One" "Another". I am going to hang those vertically down my wall attached by black ribbon for a special touch (I hope that makes sense, but I will take pictures). :o) Well, enjoy. They were so easy to make (they measure 12"x12" each).

And I am also going to make a GIANT clock with roman numeral hours and the words "FANTASIA" "est. 2005" written on it. That will be really pretty in our front room with the text "time goes softly, sweetly by when there's love at home".

These are some hangings that I just did in our bedroom above our bed. The sign says "All because two people fell in love" (And Lila took 2/3 of the pictures hanging - she's so talented!). These are just Walmart matted frames with black ribbon suspending each picture from a single-prong towel hook. :o)

Happy 24th Birthday, Alisha!

It is my sister's 24th birthday today so feel free to wish her a happy birthday on her blog ("Jamtaas Family" in my contact list) if you have a spare moment.

Also, I know I am slacking on posting pictures this past week but I will have some new ones soon as I have finally finished that photo project I have been mentioning for some time. I am just waiting for the pictures (printed on snapfish.com) to arrive in the mail so I can place them in the frames. I hope all is well with everyone. :o)

*For Alisha* - Happy Birthday, it was nice sharing a whom with you and I cannot believe we are so old now (as everyone older snickers reading this)! Oh, and sorry about the permanent dent in your ribcage from my head. Who knew using you as a pillow would have such long-lasting effects. Just so you know, you bought me hoop earrings, designer sunglasses and a pair of Roxy "pepperdine" slip-ons as a gift. What did I buy you?
